The bulk of the control pipeline fittings to change the flow rate of the liquid controls the cross section of the through hole. In this case, it will be equal to the specified one only under the condition of a stable pressure (more precisely, a pressure difference) on the control element. Balancing valves, unlike conventional valves, allow maintaining the flow rate constant even with pressure changes over a wide range (its boundaries are one of the most important characteristics of the product).

This is achieved through the use of a special differential pressure control cartridge (DPC), which, together with the flow rate preset damper, also affects the flow area, reducing it with increasing differential and thus compensating for an increase in flow. (When flushing the entire assembly after installation with high pressure, it is recommended to temporarily remove the cartridge by unscrewing / screwing in a special plug). In addition to flow stabilization, balancing valves allow for more precise adjustment, and also contain additional fittings (nipples) for connecting pressure gauges or a specialized device.

The latter makes it possible to measure pressures at two points of the product, fluid flow, their ratio, and other hydrostatic and hydrodynamic parameters during system adjustment and testing.
